A public group for posting movie reviews and links to up-and-coming movies and documentaries.
Read the Ground Rules!
I know, I know -- groups have been implemented for less than 24 hours and boundaries are already being set up. Trust me: The following list will hopefully make for smoother sailing and is unlikely to cause controversy. With that said, this does happen to be my group and I intend to moderate it into submission in order to ensure that everyone gets the most out of what this group can offer. (The same will go for any other group I create in the future -- you have been warned.)
With that out of the way, it's time to lay down some ground rules -- form of: FAQ!
(Frequently Anticipated Questions!)
For the foreseeable future, yes. I suppose if things get out of hand, I may ask for some help from an interested party or two. Still, that falls into the "unforeseeable future" category so I wouldn't hold your breath.
You're right, and my future groups will probably be a lot less vague. With that said I'm pretty open to anything that a person can argue is movie related. My main interests would be: Movie reviews, documentary reviews, DVD reviews (movies and documentaries), movie speculation, movie rumors and information about just released trailers. (I've always thought trailer reviews would be neat, too.)
Television is off-limits unless it happens to be a television show that is going to be made into a movie. (Said post or seed must be related to the movie itself, of course.) (For example, The Simpsons movie is fair game.) On the other hand, original movies and documentaries that air on television would be acceptable.
If you're going to post articles that are specifically about this group -- this article is a great example -- common courtesy would be to post it only to this group rather than to all of Newsvine. (In my opinion, that should be true of any article about any group.) With that caveat in mind, I welcome any and all discussions about how to make this group better.
Most likely, I will review the seed or post and decide if an argument can be made for its presence. If not, I will most likely leave a comment that explains why I think it might be better suited for other groups. Upon repeat offenses, I'll most likely boot the repeat offender from the group. Tough, but necessary. (I honestly don't expect this to be an issue.)
My strong suggestions: Please include a "cinemas" tag. I would also suggest that you use a "review" tag for reviews of any kind and also that you differentiate between movies and documentaries. If you're posting personal speculation, please use the "speculation" tag. If you're posting a known rumor -- use a "rumor" tag.
It won't be personal, but I'm likely to suggest tags for any article that is posted to this group that could stand to be tagged more appropriately.
That wasn't so painful, was it? Feel free to inquire if you have any questions and I'll either incorporate them into this post or answer them in the comments area.
